Standing Rock is not over. At the peak of our global grassroots movement to protect water and Native sovereignty, 15,000 prayerful sojourners stood their ground against state power allied with Big Oil. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe sent out a clarion call to the world and millions heard it.

Now we must safeguard our sacred warriors. Over 400 water protectors still face criminal prosecution by North Dakota law enforcement over the next year. Despite heroic efforts by pro-bono lawyers, 159 water protectors still lack legal representation due to a shortage of resources. North Dakota and the Trump Administration have employed arrest as a form of crowd control, and now they are using criminal prosecution to harass and intimidate the environmental movement.

Chase Iron Eyes and the Lakota People’s Law Project have spent months educating tens of thousands about the current plight of water protectors. Chase, the 2016 congressional candidate from North Dakota for the Democratic Party, faces five or more years in prison for his part assisting the NoDAPL movement. The state levied the charges “Incitement to Riot” and “Felony Trespass” against him on the land where his tribe lived for hundreds of years before it was seized by the U.S. government.

Chase is circulating a petition that demands North Dakota #DropDAPLCharges against all the peaceful and prayerful water protectors of Standing Rock. Your support remains vital. In October, the Lakota People’s Law Project will release a video sharing Chase’s story. Will you share it with your networks? If so, please follow the prompts below to join us in this important effort.
