Or\, are you an attorney representing activists and unsure of how to work with them? \nJoin us for a presentation from the Tilted Scales Collective on key points from their new book\, Representing Radicals\, with additional insight from Lauren Regan\, executive director of the Civil Liberties Defense Center (CLDC). \nRepresenting Radicals helps lawyers understand ways to work with radical defendants\, with an explicit focus on how to help them achieve ends that go beyond traditional legal goals. The book can be a useful bridge for radicals when they are working alongside a legal team. In this presentation\, they will explore what it means to take a movement perspective when handling criminal charges and how defendants and lawyers can work in partnership to the benefit of movements. \nRepresenting Radicals is a follow-up to the Tilted Scales Collective’s first book\, A Tilted Guide to Being a Defendant. \nThe Tilted Scales Collective works with radical defendants and movement lawyers to fight state repression. They are anarchist legal workers who have spent years organizing in solidarity with defendants fighting their charges and with prisoners fighting for their dignity and lives. Their organizing has included being part of defense committees for defendants facing state repression\, conducting webinars and trainings for groups of defendants\, and collaborating with other groups to engage the criminal legal system in ways that can advance radical struggles. DESCRIPTION:The 2021 Oregon legislative session is well underway. By the end of April\, we will be able to see which proposals are moving forward and which are being thwarted or modified.  Meanwhile\, agency efforts to develop the Oregon Climate Action Plan (OCAP) resulting from Governor Brown’s March 2020 Executive Order 20-04 are underway and have been afforded a mid-course evaluation by the coalition. \nThe April SOCAN General Meeting will be dedicated to a summary of Oregon legislative and OCAP updates.  If their legislative schedules permit\, Representative Pam Marsh and Senator Jeff Golden have agreed to join to offer their perspective from their respective chambers and committees. \nSOCAN meets monthly on the last Tuesday via Zoom with speakers on Topics related to climate change.\nThese meetings are free and open to the public

DESCRIPTION:.According to the World Wildlife Fund’s Sustainable Development Index\, the island of Cuba is the only country in the world with a sustainable model of development. \nIn the last year it has had one of the lowest incidences of COVID-19 and has sent thousands of medical personnel around the world to help other countries. \nWhile many people around the world applaud this good example the US government has for 60 years tried to destroy it via a crippling economic blockade.
