SUMMARY:Rally: Make Polluters Pay!
DESCRIPTION:Join the Rogue Climate volunteer team to take action launching the Make Polluters Pay Campaign to pass Oregon Climate Resilience Superfund Bill and call community members in the Rogue Valley to action. It’s time that big fossil fuel corporations pay for their pollution and that Oregonians stop bearing the burden of climate clean up! Youth and community members across the Rogue Valley are coming together to show Oregon’s leaders it’s time to Make Polluters Pay and pass the Climate Resilience Superfund bill. \nOn Saturday\, January 31st\, we will gather together ​for an intergenerational rally to officially launch the Make Polluters Pay campaign. We will gather outside at Vogel Plaza rain or shine. There will be coffee\, tea and snacks provided. Dress warmly! \nWe will be taking action with thousands across the country for the national Make Polluters Pay Week of Action January 26-30. Just the day before\, youth will be leading walkouts at 5 high schools in the Rogue Valley! If you are a Rogue Valley high school student\, reach out to jesus@rogueclimate.org to join a walkout. \nOregon’s Short Legislative Session begins the following week. This is a key moment to let our elected officials know – Oregonians are sick of paying for the climate disasters caused by Big Oil. It’s time for the fossil fuel industry to pay their fair share for fires\, floods and a more resilient future for all of us. DESCRIPTION:Adults and students are invited to join a rally for clean air on Wednesday\, September 13\, at 2 p.m. at Lithia Park.\n \nAt 2PM youth and community members will gather in Lithia Park to make art\, take action together\, and hear from speakers about the campaign. \nAt 3PM\, youth and supporters will flood the Climate and Energy Policy Advisory Committee meeting and give testimony to urge them to act quickly to move forward the policy to limit the polluting fossil fuel emissions permitted in new residential construction\, which would improve public health and transition away from fossil fuels. \nWant to help get ready for the rally? Join the Action Prep Party at Rogue Food Unite’s office (567 Walker Ave | Ashland\, OR) on Monday\, September 11 at 5:30 PM for a testimony workshop and art-build to make signs and prepare testimony for the meeting.
