SOCAN Monthly Meeting: Climate Change Communication

Southern Oregon Climate Action Now is excited to devote our monthly meeting program to a presentation by Dr. Jennifer Marlon, Research Scientist with the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication.  Dr. Marlon will identify tactics that we might consider using as we try to discuss climate science with those less convinced than we are.

From SOCAN: “When we engage with individuals on touchy issues, it is always preferable to know where our conversation partner stands and adjust our approach accordingly.  In exploring attitudes of Americans to the conclusions of climate science, the Yale Program has reported that Americans fall into one of six categories.  This underlines the reality that how we engage in discussions with individuals will depend on their attitudes.  Jennifer will explore how we can adjust our approach depending on the preconceptions of the person with whom we are engaging.”

The program is scheduled for Tuesday June 29th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.  It will be free and accessible via ZOOM. To register and receive the URL, visit the SOCAN calendar at https://socan.eco/events/.
