Six Feet Apart: Stories of Resilience and Transformation

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
August 29

Online

Six Feet Apart: Stories of Resilience and Transformation is an innovative multimedia work of choral music that harnesses the power of music, poetry, and visual art to amplify diverse voices and foster collective healing during the COVID-19 pandemic. It features music by Ethan Gans-Morse, poetry by Tiziana DellaRovere with special guest poets Anis Mojgani & Kim Stafford (current and former Poets Laureate of Oregon), artwork by the celebrated painter Betty LaDuke, and video design by Camilla tassi.

This 45-minute work features vocalists from HEX Vocal Ensemble, who shift between chorus and soloist roles, along with three members of the Brightwork Ensemble: Aron Kallay, piano, Maggie Parkins, cello, and Shalini Vijayan, violin. This remarkable collection of world-renowned musicians—which includes performers from LA Opera, LA Philharmonic, The Industry, and LA Master Chorale—have been described by the LA Times in superlative terms, such as “downright superhuman,” “worthy of our wonder,” “exquisite,” and “vibrant.”

Anima Mundi Productions partnered with the Southern Oregon Historical Society and received consultation from other area nonprofits, including members of the Peace community, in our effort to collect and make available to the public a diverse cross-section of Oregonians’ experiences during the pandemic.

The world premiere event on August 29 will be hosted online by the creators of the work, who will respond to audience questions in real time after the screening of the video.
