Spring Equinox Community Healing Give Away Event

The SOESD Indian Education Program is looking for donations, volunteers, and sponsors for a community healing giveaway event on the Spring Equinox. Teresa’s office was lost in the alameda fire along with small gift items. We would love anything to share with the students, their families and our wonderful NASU advisors. We will also be honoring 2 community members for their contributions to our community and support of our Indian Education program. They/yaka have greatly improved the lives of our Native American and Alaskan Native youth. They/yaka require no introduction, Dr. Brook Colley with Native American Studies at Southern Oregon University and Chava Florendo with Southern Oregon University’s Youth Programs, Konaway Nika Tillicum and All My Relations.

Send a story, a song, or a handmade or purchased item. We are also planning on having a remembrance of photos for those we have lost. We are acknowledging how hard this pandemic has been and moving forward to a place of healing together as we’ve always done. To make a donation for students or volunteer, contact Teresa Cisneros TERESA_CISNEROS@SOESD.K12.OR.US or Jasilyn Swick at  JASILYN_SWICK@SOESD.K12.OR.US.

Submitted by SOCAN Elections always have consequences. This is especially the case for our potential to address the climate crisis when some candidates for office accept the science of global warming and it climate change consequences while others display something between skepticism and outright rejection of science. From the local to the national level the outcomes from the 2024 general election will indicate profoundly whether meaningful action is likely. The Southern Oregon Climate Action Now November General Meeting will focus…
