Since 1992, July 25th has been recognised as the International Day of Afro-Latin American, Afro-Caribbean and African Diaspora Women, following a meeting of Black women from various organizations of 32 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean in the Dominican Republic. The meeting focused on making visible the struggles and resistance of Afro-descendant women and to define advocacy strategies to confront racism and patriarchy.
