Nor Cal Land Back Symposium Saturday

Have you heard of Land Back, but don’t quite know what it is or how it is working? This Saturday, Cal Poly Humboldt’s Native American Studies Program and Save California Salmon will co-host a symposium online and in person, and you are invited to attend.

The symposium will include sections on Land Histories and Decolonial Land Futures, Private and Public Land Return, Legal Considerations, and Fundraising opportunities. The event starts at 9 a.m. with a welcoming from Wiyot Chairman Ted Hernandez.

It is widely believed that a successful #LandBack movement could begin to heal centuries of harm inflicted on Indigenous people and Tribal Nations who had land stolen, were forcibly removed, and inflicted with diseases and atrocities as a part of Euro-American colonization and settlement in what is now known as Northern California.
