Join Siskiyou Rising Tide and Southern Oregon PBS for a screening of Southern Oregon PBS’ new documentary “Us As We Are: People of Red Mountain” to learn more about the ongoing fight to stop lithium mining in McDermitt Caldera (just hours away from the Rogue Valley) on Thursday, February 8 at 6:30pm in the Medford Library Large Meeting Room (205 S. Central Ave, First Floor).
More about the documentary: “Southern Oregon PBS’s Us As We Are visits Northern Nevada’s McDermitt Caldera, home to the world’s largest deposit of lithium. Lithium is a major component in batteries for electric cars, and so is considered an essential part of a ‘green future.’ However, an indigenous environmental activist group, People of Red Mountain point to the environmental costs of lithium mining itself.”
Event is Thursday, February 8th at 6:30PM. Free dinner!
Event is not officially sponsored by the Jackson County Library.
