Christians Against Genocide: Open Mass Organizing Call

Next Thursday, inspired by the efforts of these Mennonites as well as Muslim and Jewish groups who have organized mass nonviolent actions nationwide, more than 1,000 Christians from across the ecumenical spectrum will convene for an open call to coordinate creative public witness efforts, including nonviolent direct actions, to leverage the moral voice and influence of congregations and denominations in this critical moment.

A brand-new movement of activist Mennonites has formed in recent weeks, mobilizing urgently for a ceasefire in Gaza and to end the occupation of Palestine. Last month, this initiative, Mennonite Action, mobilized hundreds of its new members to Washington DC: 135 were arrested in the Capitol Building while singing hymns and sitting-in for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Watch the beautiful video of the Jan. 16th action in the Capitol, and register for Christians Against Genocide’s February 15th organizing call at 8:00pm ET.

Submitted by SOCAN Elections always have consequences. This is especially the case for our potential to address the climate crisis when some candidates for office accept the science of global warming and it climate change consequences while others display something between skepticism and outright rejection of science. From the local to the national level the outcomes from the 2024 general election will indicate profoundly whether meaningful action is likely. The Southern Oregon Climate Action Now November General Meeting will focus…
