Hear ‘The Power of Song’

6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
February 15

SOU MUSIC RECITAL HALL

You can hear The Power of Song when four choirs from across the state come together this season to sing for peace, social justice and the Earth.

“While we’ve all heard that the pen is mightier than the sword, we singers in our choral community also know that the power of ideas, of hope, is amplified and enhanced by the music that make songs,” says Rogue Valley Peace Choir Director (RVPC) Rob Griswell-Lowry.

“We sing together to commingle in shared hope. When we share our song with our neighbors, others hear their own story and find their hope. As the poet Sharon Cooper wrote, ‘This is choir: not a stage to impress, but a circle of breath – a place where voices become one body, and love finds its sound.’”

The concert features Eugene Peace Choir, In Accord Community Choir, Portland Peace Choir, and Rogue Valley Peace Choir . The choirs will perform individually and then all four choirs will perform together for a rousing hope-filled finale.

This is the first time the choirs have come together since before Covid closures. The last joint choir concert hosted by RVPC in Ashland in 2018 filled the SOU recital hall, so plan to arrive early. A suggested donation of $20 is gratefully accepted, but not required.

This event is partially funded through Ashland Lodging tax revenue. Business and individual sponsors are also welcome. To help sponsor this event, contact David Teegarden.
