ACTION ALERT! Call to support HCAO-RV’s Resolution at the Ashland City Council on July 19 at 7 pm
Calling all Health Care Activists,
Health Care For All Oregon needs your help next Tuesday, July 19! Our resolution about universal affordable health care will be coming up before Ashland City Council again [July 19] that evening. This call asks you to come and bring as many supporters as possible to the meeting. You won’t have to speak, but we need your presence in a red shirt to send a message to Council.

We are asking the Council to refer a resolution to the voters for the November ballot. The key paragraph is:

“A ‘yes’ vote on the advisory question would encourage the 2017 Legislature to utilize the results of the study authorized in 2013 and 2015 to design a system that provides timely access to comprehensive health care for all Oregon residents, ensures choice of provider, and has effective cost controls, equitable access, and a focus on preventative care.”

We need your presence for two reasons. First, the visible presence of our red shirts in the audience shows the Council that our resolution has substantial support. Second, being there in numbers will encourage the Council to move our resolution earlier in the agenda. Although the resolution appears at the end of the printed Council agenda, we are confident that the Mayor will ask Council to move it forward in the agenda so we will not risk again running out of time.

The Council meeting will start at 7 pm in the Council Chambers (1175 E. Main St.). Please arrive before 7 pm if at all possible, because we expect the room to fill up quickly. If you have any questions, please contact me at jlghco16@gmail.com.

Thanks for all your good work on this important project.

Cheers.
