This week, after dozens of artistic tshirts were ripped down from the Say Their Names memorial installation along the fence in Railroad Park in Ashland, community members came out to restore it. This marks the second time the memorial art installation was damaged by vandals.
Dr. Geneva Craig, who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and narrated the BASE video released on MLK Day, had this message to the vandals:
“You were not successful,” Craig said. “What you ended up doing was bringing a whole lot of people together who are strangers to really undo, in a sense, the damage you thought you were creating.”
