Peace House has been the home of Uncle Foods Diner for nearly 33 years. Every Tuesday at 4:30 pm, our team of volunteers, which is led by chef Maren, can be found at Ashland’s United Methodist Church, serving up scrumptious meals to the homeless, the hungry, the economically disadvantaged, and the working poor. Why are the lines at Uncle Foods Diner getting longer? Because military spending is now 54% of U.S. federal discretionary spending, according to the National Priorities Project. Read more about what would happen if we turned back the clock on military spending in peace activist/author David Swanson’s blog, http://warisacrime.org/content/if-us-military-spending-returned-2001-level just in time for Memorial Day.
