On March 8th 2022, students in the Queer Indigenous Studies course host the seventh annual Queer Indigenous Gathering at Southern Oregon University 5pm to 8pm. All are welcome. This collaborative final project brings together concepts explored in our class including, survivance (survival+ resistance= continuance), settler colonialism, heteropatriarchy, heteronormativity, eroticism, love, healing, and community.
We have invited four amazing, creative, and knowledgeable LGBTQ2, Queer Indigenous, and Two-Spirit activists, artists, and scholars to share their stories and work, and we are creating several educational resources for participants, including a resource booklet. We envision this event as a gathering, an educational celebration, and a gift to our community, while it is also an intervention that serves to unsettle racism, settler colonialism, and heterosexism.
