Back from the Brink & Rep. Jim McGovern: Growing Support for Nuclear Abolition

Thanks to folks from around the country, more members of the U.S. House of Representatives are co-sponsoring H. Res. 77, a vitally important Back from the Brink (BftB)-led organizing vehicle that is helping to elevate congressional debate and leadership on nuclear disarmament and risk reduction.

Persistence and patience are key. Let’s keep it up.

Please join Back from the Brink and Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) via Zoom on Wednesday, May 31st at 5pm PT for Growing Support for Nuclear Abolition, an important discussion about H. Res. 77 and how we can get more members of Congress to make diplomacy, arms control and nuclear abolition a priority—and how you can be involved.

As a reminder, H. Res. 77 calls on the United States to embrace the goals and provisions of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) and to adopt BftB’s five point policy agenda to prevent nuclear war and achieve a world free of nuclear weapons.

Have you urged your U.S. House member to co-sponsor yet? See our H. Res. 77 resources page for helpful information.

The May 31st Zoom discussion will be an opportunity to get Rep. McGovern’s insights and perspectives on the Congressional landscape and ways we can all be most helpful. It’ll also be an opportunity to share what activists are hearing from members of Congress, answer frequently asked questions about H. Res. 77 and to learn about BftB’s plans for the summer and fall.
