Commemorating 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Japan

The Southern Oregon Japanese Association (SOJA) Himawari club is commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the war in Japan to share the “scars” of the war, learn anew about the preciousness of peace, to pray for peace, and to deepen exchanges with everyone, regardless of whether they are members or non-members, etc.

Silence & Kencha by Sadou Club Urasenke (We offer a Japanese tea to the souls of all those
who died in the war.) is 12:30-1:45pm. Hiroshima survivor Hideko Tamura will deliver the keynote speech on the experiences of Hiroshima atomic bomb survivors.

Kids Activity will be 2-3:30pm with accommodations for up to 20 children. (Supplies are limited so please contact us in advance if you would like to participate.) There will also be a picture book reading of “Sensou Sinai” (No War).

Light snacks will also be available throughout the event.  Donations accepted. Questions? Email.
