Fireside Chat with Executive Director Marion Kendall

Join LifeWay for a lunch & learn for Human Trafficking Awareness Month!

Celebrate Human Trafficking Awareness Month with LifeWay Network. As part of the group’s month-long programming, LifeWay is shedding light on how service providers disrupt human trafficking. Join us for a Fireside chat with Executive Director Marion Kendall.

There is a misconception that when a survivor is trafficked, the solution is for the survivor to be “rescued” and the work is over. The reality is that an “exit” out of a compelling trafficking situation is only the beginning of a long-term recovery process.

The role of service providers, and more specifically safe houses, are an overlooked part of the recovery process. The exploitation created by traffickers is only part of the traumatic experience. Trafficking can also: Inhibit survivors from saving funds and building credit; disrupt their employment and educational history; leave them to navigate legal and bureaucratic systems; hinder their development; create acute and chronic medical and psychological needs, and more. LifeWay confronts this reality.

Submitted by SOCAN Elections always have consequences. This is especially the case for our potential to address the climate crisis when some candidates for office accept the science of global warming and it climate change consequences while others display something between skepticism and outright rejection of science. From the local to the national level the outcomes from the 2024 general election will indicate profoundly whether meaningful action is likely.
