On January 11, Ashland Together invites you to join Portland State University history professor Kristin Teigen for a free, two hour webinar examining Oregon’s difficult racial past. The event will serve as an introductory session in the lead up to a four week, online course titled “Unwelcomed: Oregon’s History of Exclusion” beginning February 1st.
The goal of this 2 hour webinar is to better understand our state’s largely unexamined history of discrimination. How did a rebellion in the 1600’s and the Missouri Compromise of 1820 set the stage for Oregon as ‘whites only’ territory, and later, a state? From land grabs to redlining to genocide, countless moments of our history would influence people in Oregon for generations to come.
Register and find out more about this event on Ashland Together’s Event Page.
