Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom

On Sunday, June 19, 2022 we’ll host the 2nd Annual Southern Oregon Juneteenth Celebration at Pear Blossom Park in Medford. This family-friendly event will be an outdoor cultural celebration for the entire community of Southern Oregon featuring food, education, music, and entertainment. If you attended in 2021, you know you don’t want to miss it! Our 2022 celebration of freedom promises to be even bigger than last year.

What’s Planned:

The main stage will feature music throughout the day from an African drumming group, Live music, our very own Bishop Mayfield Band, a local DJ, inspiring speakers, and singers, plus dance and music performances from our youth program, AfroScoutz.

Kids Zone- Inside there will be games and activities including a bouncy houses and face painting. A smaller stage in the Kids’ Zone will feature live music.

Local food trucks will serve food throughout the day, highlighting a variety of Black-owned businesses and also featuring community partners. Vendors, organizations, and local leaders from across Southern Oregon will have booths on-site to engage with the community.

The 2022 Southern Oregon Juneteenth Celebration is a collaboration between BASE and the B.E.S.T. team at Oregon’s Department of Human Services. This event will be powered by volunteers and community support.
