SOCAN Monthly Meeting – Greenhouse Gas Emissions: The Ocean Perspective

Presentation by Dr. Bill Gorham, marine biologist, Coastal SOCAN leader, SOCAN Board of Directors member

Since we are land-dwelling organisms, we focus on the climate crisis as an atmospheric and terrestrial issue. If we were dolphins, we’d have a different point of view. Besides causing warming above the ocean, greenhouse gases also impact our oceans in many ways, from causing warming and raising the sea level, to acidifying the entire marine environment and compromising the survival of many ecologically and commercially important marine species.

Dr. Gorham will help us understand how narrow our airborne view of the climate crisis is by presenting the marine underwater view of this global crisis.

SOCAN meets monthly  with speakers and movies on Topics related to climate change.

These meetings are free and open to the public
