SoCAN Monthly Meeting: Update from Our Children’s Trust

SoCAN’s monthly meeting will feature a presentation by Andrea Rodgers, Our Children’s Trust Senior Litigation Attorney.

From SoCAN:

The youth of the world are those who will suffer most if we fail to address the climate crisis. Our failure to address this crisis is why many young people are angry and others are simply disillusioned. Some, meanwhile, have joined forces through the Eugene-based organization, Our Children’s Trust (OCT), to take legal action. This action takes the form of lawsuits against federal and state governments for their failure to acknowledge the responsibility governments have to protect the natural resources they hold in trust for future generations.

SOCAN’s August monthly meeting will feature aa ZOOM presentation by Our Children’s Trust Senior Litigating Attorney Andrea Rodgers presenting an update on where the legal cases filed by Our Children’s Trust stand, and what the future seems to hold.

There is no charge for joining the ZOOM meeting, but participants must register.

Submitted by SOCAN Elections always have consequences. This is especially the case for our potential to address the climate crisis when some candidates for office accept the science of global warming and it climate change consequences while others display something between skepticism and outright rejection of science. From the local to the national level the outcomes from the 2024 general election will indicate profoundly whether meaningful action is likely. The Southern Oregon Climate Action Now November General Meeting will focus…
