Vigil of Remembrance for Hiroshima and Nagasaki

8:00 am - 9:00 am
August 6

Lithia Park

The residents of Hiroshima were bombed at 8:15 a.m. local time the morning of August 6th, 1945. This is why each year we gather at 8 a.m., taking a moment of silence at 8:15 to remember the consequences of the bombing and its aftermath, both in Hiroshima and in Nagasaki three days later.

We hope you’ll be part of the many who gather at the entrance to Lithia Park for this annual vigil, to hear members of our local community speak and reflect on what happened at Hiroshima, and to observe or partake in the water ceremony (learn more about the long history of water ceremonies for Hiroshima).

Note: We are arranging a back-up location in case of poor air quality; please check our site the week of the event for details.
