Following the U.S. Supreme Court decision Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, in which the court declared that money is speech and so corporations can spend essentially unlimited funds to influence elections, a movement sprang up across the country to overturn the decision by Constitutional amendment. The most sweeping and effective proposal is to declare that in law corporations are not people (which a much earlier court ruling said they were) and money is not speech protected by the First Amendment. A national organization called Moved to Amend (MTA) has been promoting that proposal. People close to Peace House formed a Rogue Valley affiliate of MTA, which has enjoyed considerable success.
