JoAnn Prujan, a dignified mother, grandmother and charitable volunteer, passed away July 23, 2025. She was 84 years old.
For more than 20 years, JoAnn resided in Las Vegas, in addition to the several years she spent on Oahu and in Mt. Shasta. She finally landed in Ashland, where she cherished her community during her final years. More than anything, JoAnn treasured her family. Her face lit up whenever she shared stories about her two granddaughters, especially.
JoAnn held a graceful presence throughout her life, coupled with a playful attitude and welcoming smile, visible in her determined pursuit to complete whatever task was in front of her. Her broad skills were on display when she organized large scale, charitable events for Share Our Strength in Las Vegas, delivering hundreds of thousands of dollars each year in funding for International hunger initiatives.
JoAnn volunteered in the kitchen at Uncle Food’s Diner for the better part of a decade. Her clever, graceful tenacity when preparing food was at once discerning and productive, making her an indispensable member of a tight knit community. Whether assembling simple sandwiches or applying her expert skills carving a brisket or roasted turkey, people in need were fed the best possible food when JoAnn contributed to meals.
Her compassionate and down-to-earth style in relating to people of all walks of life left a legacy of acceptance and loving care for those lucky enough to share time with her. She listened intently and cared deeply for people.
Join JoAnn Prujan’s friends and family in a Celebration of Life on Monday, August 4 at 1 p.m. at Temple Emek Shalom in Ashland.
JoAnn Prujan is survived by daughters Abby and Julie and granddaughters Ruth and Pearl.
