Peace House is pleased to announce a new partner in Ashland Together, a local organization working toward racial and social healing in our community. Through our fiscal sponsorship role, we look forward to more collaboration with the emerging organization, which has taken the lead in organizing several racial justice events in Ashland. Their activities have already created major attention, with a sold-out special screening of famed director Ava Duvernay’s “Origin,” followed by a lively panel discussion; a four-week OSU course examining Oregon’s history of racial exclusion laws; and the recent launch of the Ashland Sunrise Project.
In addition to Ashland Together, Peace House also provides sponsorship to the Southern Oregon Pachamama Alliance (SOPA) whose mission is to bring forth “an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on this planet.” In the Fall of 2023, the Alliance brought together more than 200 people for a six-week Water Solutions Summit, spawning the creation of ongoing cohort groups now known as the Water Action Community of the Rogue Valley.
With these and other partnerships, Peace House continues to expand collaboration and outreach with active groups in our community working on pressing issues spanning from climate change to water justice, from militarism to anti-racist organizing. Both Ashland Together and SOPA have representatives on the Peace House Board of Directors. All Peace House partners reflect actions-oriented engagement for progressive and nonviolent social change.
