Don’t let the Iran Deal become another casualty of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. The Biden Administration is in the eleventh hour of negotiations to restore the JCPOA Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action which became law in 2015 and successfully prevented the expansion of the Iranian nuclear weapon program until 2018. That year President Trump withdrew the U.S. from the Deal. Since then, Iran has resumed its weapon program and is now closer to complete nuclear weapon development than ever before.
Join the Rogue Valley Advocacy Team RVAT in contacting Congress to urge diplomacy and restoration of the Iran Deal. Our team is among nearly 130 in 42 states organized and trained by FCNL (the Friends Committee on National Legislation), the oldest peace lobby on Capitol Hill.
We are committed to promoting peace and social justice by convincing Congress to end military intervention and to pursue peace. Join us this week with activists nationwide calling on Congress to urge continued U.S. diplomacy until the agreement is restored.
Let’s Reseal The Deal!
The agreement will improve U.S. and global security by putting Iran’s nuclear program back in a box. Indeed, it is the ONLY way to stop Iran’s nuclear advancements. In 2015 parties to the JCPOA were Iran, the five permanent UN Security Council members: US, France, UK, China, and Russia; and Germany was an additional signatory. The restored JCPOA would include the same parties with the possible exception of Russia which withheld its support last week while demanding sanction relief for Russia as a condition of continued participation on the Deal. The American people stand firmly on the side of diplomacy and restoring the JCPOA.
Take Action This Week
Call the Congressional Switchboard this week, Tuesday through Friday: 202-224-3121. Ask to be connected with Senator Ron Wyden, Senator Jeff Merkley and Congressman Cliff Bentz.
Tell them to urge continued diplomacy until the deal is done. Put the Iran nuclear program back in the box! Let’s top its nuclear advancement #ReSealTheDeal#IranDeal
The Rogue Valley played an early role in mobilizing for the original Iran Deal which was years in the making. In 2010, Citizens for Peace and Justice, a Medford-based peace organization (founded with the help of Peace House in 2003 in the wake of the US invasion of Iraq) led a campaign that succeeded in mailing over 400 postcards to Washington, D.C. lawmakers urging a nuclear agreement with Iran.
