SAVE THE DATE March 7: Meeting Our Challenges Tour

Save the date Tuesday, March 7, when Peace House and our partners will host longtime nonviolence activist and author George Lakey in Ashland. Two speaking events will be held including one at the United Congressional Church and one at SOU. Details coming soon!

Here’s a little background from our allies at WagingNonviolence.org:

“Movement elder and longtime Waging Nonviolence columnist George Lakey is hitting the road for an international tour in promotion of his new memoir “Dancing with History: A Life for Peace and Justice.” As Daniel Ellsberg notes, “George Lakey stands out for the sheer range of his contributions to peace and justice. His upbeat, soul-driven spirit underlies it all, as you’ll catch in this revealing memoir.”

While a special pre-tour event will take place Nov. 8 at the University of San Francisco, the official “Meeting Our Challenges” tour kicks off Nov. 15 at the Free Library of Philadelphia. Events are free and do not require tickets or registration unless otherwise noted below. More dates will be added soon.

In the meantime, you can pre-order the book — which is in paperback — from bookshop.org to benefit local independent bookstores.”

Check-out the film trailer for the full-length documentary about George Lakey’s life and work still in production by Glennfilms.
