Stop the use of dangerous chlorpyrifos pesticides that damage the brains of infants and children

Beyond Toxics and PCUN serve on the Oregon Department of Agriculture Chlorpyrifos Stakeholder Group to give input for the newly proposed rules regulating the use of an extremely dangerous pesticide, chlorpyrifos.

The public comment period is open until September 1st. Now’s your chance to submit testimony to help us to phase out the use of Chlorpyrifos!

Chlorpyrifos damages the brains of infants and children, and can cause neurological harm, cancer and other serious impacts. Unsafe levels of residues are found in drinking water and common foods such as beans, vegetables and fruit. Research overwhelmingly shows that toxic chlorpyrifos pesticides kill and harm bees, butterflies, and birds and is a serious threat to our food, public health, and wildlife.

Hawaii, California, New York and Maryland have taken action to ban or severely restrict chlorpyrifos. Oregon will soon take action, but the Department of Agriculture’s proposed rules on chlorpyrifos need to be strongerWe need your help to pass effective rules. Please send your written comments or speak at one of three public hearings during August.
