Thanks to all of you who came and savored the marvelous food made by Uncle Food’s Diner Chef Kerul Dyer and many of the Diner’s hard-working volunteers. Many who came had not seen each other in a long time, so it was a joyous time to share and reflect on how far Peace House has come since its formation.
We are now in the midst of our fortieth year as a peace and justice organization in Ashland and our celebration on June 22nd was a delightful time for reunion and renewal.
Never has the actual “House” been so lively, with every room activated by exhibits and charmed by courtyard jazz by Adam Shrubbe, pianist extraordinaire. Hideko Tamura Snyder brought her children’s books about the bombing of Hiroshima; Betty LaDuke lent us twelve of her amazing social justice giclee prints. Pachamama presented sign-up sheets for three book groups that we will co-sponsor in September as a part of our Season of Nonviolence that will stretch into the end of this year.
