The Rogue Valley Water Solutions Summit, a six-session summit organized by Southern Oregon Pachamama Alliance, will host two more sessions during November, and you are invited to participate. Recordings of the well attended sessions are available to watch on the Summit website. Simply navigate to the session title and a link is available below the description. Topics have ranged from a general overview of regional water systems to specific issues surrounding water transportation of water, industrial and agricultural use, the importance of our relationship water, and more. Potential solutions to water issues have arisen in the sessions as well, including waste reduction and incentive programs, restoration alternatives and will be aggregated into an action plan on the final session November 12.
The group has organized an online auction to help cover costs of the event, which includes original art, weekend getaways, and many other items. The “Eclectic, Exciting, Adventurous, Artful Online Auction” will be open until noon, Friday, Nov. 11. auction can be viewed here.
The next Session will be held on November 9 from 6-8 p.m. on Zoom, and is aptly titled, “The Catch Basin: A Flood of Issues and Possibilities.” The description of the session is as follows:
Averting mistakes and disasters – floods, fires, market pressures and more. Drought has an impact on our forests, flood prevention, and storm run-off. The potential for the use of treated effluent as an irrigation source for parks, roadways, golf courses; real estate development impacts; and the implementation of water catchment and other earth-friendly practices will be discussed.
The final session, to take place in person at the SOU/RCC Higher Education Center in Medford, will begin at 10 a.m. on November 12. Everyone encouraged to arrive an hour early for a meet and greet and to bring bring a bagged lunch.
