Through the brave activism and voices of those calling for liberation, the right of the Palestinians to live in dignity and peace, alongside Israelis, is, for the first time ever, an election item.
Uncommitted is a grassroots opportunity for the collective to tell Biden to change his policies on Gaza. Of course, it is more than just Gaza. It is also the first time the electorate has signaled to the American elite: arming Israel to the teeth is no longer a worthy campaign slogan. It is a crack in the Mccarthyism around Israel.
And how can politicians stand behind Israel’s current behavior? Too many of us, even those in the mainstream, have seen and heard of such unimaginable horror, devastation, and death that it makes most people wonder: how did this happen? How can we as a society, with global ethical standards, explain a political system that works one way and a code of ethics that goes another?
With this question, people see Palestine for the first time.
“Uncommitted” is a collective voice, telling the Biden administration and others to: (1) at a minimum, stop Israel’s aggression in Gaza, and for a growing number of voices, (2) find a political solution that demands equal treatment and safety for all.
